Highfield trees to be examined

TREES AND shrubberies at Highfield Downs are to be examined by the council in the winter with a view to restoring an problem are to a condition where it can be looked after by local residents.

Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) asked the council to 'top the tree and clean up the overgrown shrubbery at the top of Highfield Downs (bordering Ballintrane Wood) to bring the area back to a state that it may be easily maintained by local residents'.

Cllr Butler also asked the local authority to 'investigate and take action with regard to the tree that appears to be leaning over towards houses'. The council replied: 'The shrubbery will be examined and listed for possible inclusion in the winter shrubbery clear out programme. 'The trees will be inspected at the same time and any works deemed necessary will be carried out over the winter months.'
