TWO of the north Dublin's best known clubs squared off against each other last week, although in this instance the playing fields were swapped for the boxing ring.

Dubbed ' The Battle of Fingal', Swords club Fingallians took on Naomh Barrog from Kilbarrack in a white collar boxing event at the Wright Venue. Some 17 bouts took place on the night with the Kilbarrack-based club edging it in the end, with a narrow nine eight victory over the Swords rivals. Among those taking part, representing Fingallians, were Paul O'Toole, Ian Quigley, Aisling Clements, Shay O'Reilly, John McGee, Tom McKitterick, Vicky Brown, John Reddington, David Mills, Nick Cunningham, Mick Herrity, Nicola McKitterick, Niall Fagan, Gary Donnelly, Rossa Kelleher, Jay Smith and Brian Creagh. The Swords venue was packed to the rafters with supporters from both clubs cheering on their teams on a night to remember.
