SOME OF the trees felled in Swords Manor recently will be replaced in the new year, according to Fingal County Council.
Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) asked when the stumps left would be removed and if and when the trees would be replaced. The local authority explained: 'It is an objective of the adopted tree strategy that a tree will be planted for each tree felled. However trees will only be planted in suitable locations and will not be planted within 7m of a public lighting column.
Replacement trees will be planted in the locality in the new year.' ' The hiring of a grinder is expensive. Stumps will be removed when there are enough in an area or when value can be gained from contracting out this work. Stumps are generally removed within four to six weeks.'
