VOLUNTEERS ARE being sought in Swords to work with young families in the area who are under stress.
Co-ordinated by HomeStart, they train and support volunteers who pay weekly visits to families in need. They offer regular support, friendship and practical help to parents helping to prvent family crisis or breakdown. Volunteers are also asked to provide support for up to 3 hours a week. Volunteers are often (but not always!) parents themselves and know the ups and downs of "being there"! If you've got through the early days, why not volunteer your experience to help someone else?
A Home-Start volunteer should have parenting or relevant professional experience and be able to demonstrate a sensitive and caring attitude towards others. They should also have a warm and open personality and a sense of humour, as well as a non-judgemental attitude and be able to respect confidentiality. For further information contact firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Valerie on 085 7599430 for more information. Volunteers are required to complete garda vetting, administered by Home-Start.
