Dramatic society had a busy year

MALAHIDE MUSICAL and Dramatic Society has had another busy and successful year and is looking forward with confidence to 2013 when it will continue to entertain and enthral the local community.

The society has just finished another successful show called 'For One Night Only' and such was the demand for tickets that extra chairs had to be laid out for the performance. MMDS was joined on the night by The Dublin City Council Choir, Children from All Starz Musical Theatre Group and Rising Star Stage School. The show featured songs from musicals like Les Miserables as well as Christmas carols, tap dancing to In the Mood and various solo numbers and duets. The Malahide Musical and Dramatic Society Christmas raffle draw will take place on December 19 in Duffy's Pub, Malahide. People can buy a ' line' a t€5 from any society member and enter into the draw for top prizes of an IPAD mini, weekend for two and two prizes of €100 vouchers for Hush Restaurant , Malahide. Next up for MMDS is the return of the popular 'Malahide's Got Talent'. Registration is now open for everyone aged 18 and under . All entrants must email before Friday, January 11 to register. Auditions will take place in January (provisional date is January 19). There is a non-refundable fee of €5 to audition. Those successful in the auditions will go forward to the final which will take place in The Grand Hotel in early March. There is an additional €10 fee for anyone that makes it to the final and you don't have to live in Malahide to participate. You can also text the group for more details on 086 375 8196. Rehearsals are going well for the group's new musical 'Crazy for You' and the society is still recruiting for men over 18 if anyone would like to join. The group rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays at 8pm. Show dates are February 12 to 16 in Scoil Iosa, Malahide. Malahide Musical and Dramatic Society is constantly striving to make ends meet and to keep the society afloat. This is becoming increasing difficult as costs increase and funding decreases. The group really appreciate everyone that comes along to its fundraising nights and shows. If anyone would like to become a patron of Malahide Musical Society for the 2012/13 season, it costs €75. As a patron member you will be entitled to receive two tickets to each of its productions plus a programme. There is also a special cheese and wine reception after ' Patron's Night' for you to avail of and an opportunity for you to meet the cast and discuss your views on the night's show.
