Call for landscaping on roundabout

LANDSCAPING and planting should be carried out by Fingal County Council on one of the roundabouts close to Applewood village to match the community effort on one of the other roundabouts in the area.

Cllr Duncan Smith (Lab) called for the local authority to carry out the works at the second roundabout on the Glen Ellan Distributor Road, between the Castleview, Bride's Glen, Applewood and Sandford Wood Estates.

He said it would match the voluntary effort carried out on the first roundabout at the entrance to the Glen Ellan Estate and Applewood.

He was informed that the landscaping of the roundabout at the entrance to the Glen Ellan estate was carried out in conjunction with the Glen Ellan Residents Association.

Fingal County Council's Operations Department cultivated the central area and planted the ground cover roses with the agreement that the Residents Association would weed the planted area and keep the site litter free.

The Residents Association have done a fantastic job in this regard and have added additional planting, a report to Cllr Smith said.

The Operations Department is willing to meet and discuss planting options with any other Residents Association or community group that is willing to take on the maintenance of the second roundabout.
