IT HAS been a busy week at Newbridge House and Farm as it played its part in celebrating Heritage Week. There is surely no more fitting location than Newbridge House and Farm to celebrate the rich and diverse history of Fingal.

All week. Newbridge Demesne helped celebrate the event with a variety of interactive family fun. From 12 noon to 3pm each day there was free with entry to the farm and children could have a go at sports and arts and crafts inspired by the demesne. Tours of the House were half price for the week and on Saturday, August 25, local vet and agricultural correspondent of the Irish Independent, Peadar O'Scanaill gave a guided family orientated tour of the farm in English and on Sunday, he did the same but through Irish.

Newbridge is now looking forward to spooky tours of the Haunted House and opening Frightmare Farm in October, and children's workshops on decorating and ghost busting in preparation for Halloween. Before that, in September, Newbridge will be delighted to host master classes in floral art with Christopher White. Christopher is one of Ireland's foremost floral designers and demonstrators. He is a qualified NAFAS (National Association of Floral Arranging) demonstrator and is a member of the Irish Specialist Nursery Association and of the Association of Irish Flower Arrangers and of several Irish and British flower and garden clubs. He travels extensively presenting demonstrations and workshops all over Ireland, Britain and abroad on both traditional and contemporary styles of floral design.

Christopher works with many experienced florists but he also loves to introduce beginners to floristry. He is particularly inspired by historic properties both interiors and formal and parkland settings. Second to demonstrating Christopher loves competitive work and has won gold and silver medals at numerous national and international events including Chelsea and Bloom. In 2012 Christopher won a silver medal at Chelsea for a Floral Art Exhibit entitled "Forty Shades of Green" for the Naul Gardening and Flower Club.

For many years he operated a shop in Balbriggan but now concentrates on his first loves of teaching and competing but does take on a number of corporate events, weddings and special events each year. For further information please visit or follow us on Facebook or contact us at 01-8436534
