Busy times at Newbridge

NEWBRIDGE HOUSE and Farm is not resting on its laurels after playing a central role in Heritage Week, it is now preparing for a busy schedule of events in September.

There was surely no more fitting location than Newbridge House and Farm to celebrate the rich and diverse history of Fingal and that's what happened at the end of August as traditional arts and crafts and the skills of farming from a bygone age were demonstrated at the Donabate park as part of Heritage Week. But without a moment's rest, Newbridge House and Farm is now looking forward to a blooming good September and is delighted to be hosting a series of master classes in floral art with Christopher White. Christopher is one of Ireland's foremost floral designers and demonstrators and is a qualified NAFAS (National Association of Floral Arranging) demonstrator and a member of the Irish Specialist Nursery Association and of the Association of Irish Flower Arrangers and of several Irish and British flower and garden clubs. He travels extensively presenting demonstrations and workshops all over Ireland, Britain and abroad on both traditional and contemporary styles of floral design. Christopher works with many experienced florists but he also loves to introduce beginners to floristry. He is particularly inspired by historic properties both interiors and formal and parkland settings. Second to demonstrating Christopher loves competitive work and has won gold and silver medals at numerous national and international events including Chelsea and Bloom. In 2012 Christopher won a silver medal at Chelsea for a Floral Art Exhibit entitled ' Forty Shades of Green' for the Naul Gardening and Flower Club. He was recently also awarded best in show the Tullamore Show. Recently Christopher has had to curtail his international work due to family commitments and is now available to carry out more projects in Ireland. For many years he operated a shop in Balbriggan but now concentrates on his first loves of teaching and competing but does take on a number of corporate events, weddings and special events each year. Christopher will commence his programme in September with a beginners four-part course on Wednesdays on September 5, 12, 19 and 26. In October Christopher will give Harvest and Halloween themed half day workshops on October 7, 13, 14 and 20t. All classes are from 10am to 1pm with all materials provided and a morning tea break, tour of Newbridge House and Walled Garden (usual price €10) included. The beginners four-part series costs €150 while the half day Harvest and Halloween workshop costs €80. Progress from Christopher's beginners class to his seasonal and special interest workshops and create beautiful displays for your home in every season or begin to develop a passion into a profession and the first 10 people to book places on Christopher's classes get 50% off.
