BROADBAND IN Balbriggan is about to get faster after an announcement by Eircom that it plans to roll out fibre broadband to the north Fingal town by Easter of 2013.Deputy Alan Farrell TD has said that Eircom will roll out the service which has already benefitted Swords and Donabate, to Balbriggan next year. Deputy Farrell said: '" The increased availability in high speed fibre powered broadband is essential for the business community 'Access to high speed broadband is essential for business development in this current technology driven environment, not to mention local schools who will benefit as a result of this investment initiative. 'Homes and businesses in this area will soon have the opportunity to take advantage of a growing broadband market, and we know that the expansion of the market leads to improved quality and services. He added: 'Vital infrastructure such as high speed, good quality broadband is invaluable for businesses to communicate and perform effectively within today's digitally focussed market. 'This comes at an opportune time when entrepreneurial initiatives in Balbriggan such as Fumbally Exchange and the Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce have recently received Government funding to boost job creation in the area."
