THE COUNCIL is to work with a private landowner to clean up the area around the River Valley bottle bank.Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) requested the clean up and the council informed him: ' The bottle banks at River Valley are on part of a private car park owned by the Scout Den. The car park has a gravel surface which has degraded due to use and weather erosion as would be expected of such a surface. ' The area in the vicinity of the bottle bank is in a worse condition than the other areas of the car park and the council with the permission of the landowner will restore the gravel surface in the vicinity of the bottle banks.' The local authority added: 'However, it is not considered appropriate to tarmacadam this private area which the bottle banks occupy on a temporary licence. 'Rehab Glassco, the company with the contract to service the banks, informed us that they visit and empty when necessary, these banks twice a week. If we receive reports that bottle banks are overflowing we ensure they are emptied within 24hrs. This has not been an issue at this site.'
