THE GAA football girls of Ardgillan have made a little bit of history in winning their first ever league match. At the end of September, the Ardgillan girls' GAA team along with their coach Ms. Byrne travelled down to O'Dwyer's to play against St. Marks of Tallaght.
It was history in the making as it was the first league match ever for the girls of Ardgillan. It started off brilliantly for Ardgillan with a super score from Sophie Cody, quickly followed by other tremendous points from the Ardgillan girls. It was clear from the outset that it wasn't going to be easy for St. Marks. At the end of the first half, the score was eight points to nil to the home team. Minutes into the second half, St. Marks scored a brilliant goal. However, it wasn't enough to spoil Ardgillan's day. The girls of Ardgillan won the match 1-10 to 2-2. A big well done to all involved and to Ms. Byrne.
