143 donors attend blood donor clinic in Skerries

Some 143 donors attended the recently held mobile clinic at Skerries Community Centre.

A breakdown of the total figures show that there were eight first-time donors and 35 former donors attended.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) said it was essential that it maintains and increase the level of support on the next visit to Skerries.

A special thank you was extended to local voluntary organiser sSara Rock, Bernie Costello and Jill McKenna for their help and support prior to and during the holding of the clinic.

About 70,000 patients are transfused with blood each year in Irish Hospitals. To do this the IBTS must collect approximately 3,000 donations of blood each and every week from voluntary donors like you. A total of 5,748 units alone were required in Beaumont Hospital during 2016

Finally on behalf of all the patients in hospital who benefit from your generosity, the IBTS extended a heartfelt thank you to all who attended or helped with the Skerries clinic in any way.
