'Write a book in a year'

HAVE YOU ever wanted to write a book? Well a workshop held in Balbriggan this week aimed to break down the mystique of completing your own book and show you how to get it done in just one year.

' Write A Book in a Year: A Writing Workshop and Workbook' was presented at Balbriggan Library by Jacinta McDevitt as part of the Fingal Writers' Festival, Writing 3.0. Jacinta McDevitt is a qualified speech and drama teacher who began her career by writing sketches for her students to perform. Years later, she started taking an interest in writing courses and started writing adult short stories. Her short story 'Way To Go Dad' broadcast on RTE as part of the Francis McManus short story competition. She is the author of the hugely successful novels Sign's On, Excess Baggage and Handle with Care. Jacinta has been involved in giving many, many writing workshops and received lots of enquiries from people wanting to attend workshops but through circumstance of distance or other commitments, couldn't attend. So now by writing this workbook she is bringing her workshop to you.
