No money for fireworks display at Swords Castle
IT is unlikely that the people of Swords will be treated this Hallowe'en to the kind of spectacular fireworks display seen at Swords Castle recently during the Brian Boru festival.
Cllr Anne Devitt (NP) called for the council to stage a second fireworks display this Halloween and suggested it might provide an alternative to informal and potentially dangerous bonfire events.
But the council issued a report that seemed to shoot down the idea. The report states: 'Following the successful St. Patrick's Day Parade, Brian Boru Commemoration and firework display and the upcoming Swords 10k, due to the staff and financial resources involved, there are no plans at this time to organise a firework display at Hallowe'en.'
