Losing weight is a family affair for the Moores as they drop six stone
A LUSK family is winning the fight against the battle of the bulge.
Four members of the Moore family have lost over six stone since joining the Slimming World group in Lusk, which meets at Corduff NS every Thursday. The group was opened by consultant Aoife Murphy, who said the Moore family were a fantastic example of the commitment and determination of the members who turn up every week at her clinic.
Mother Deirdre Moore, two daughters Amanda and Gena and son Cathal all attend the 5.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. session and collectively they have lost over six stone. ' The help and support that they get from the group on a weekly basis has helped them achieve this. They have found the programme fits in very well with the whole family because they can all eat the same healthy nutritious meals,' said Aoife.
Deirdre is a remarkable woman, as not only is she a successful slimmer but she also runs her own flower business and cares for her husband Peter who is on home dialysis. Deirdre herself has also been diagnosed with fibro myalgia which is a medical disorder characterised by chronic widespread pain and allodynia.
However, the weight loss that she has achieved already has helped relieve some of her symptoms and improved her quality of life. Deirdre's doctor is very pleased with her weight loss so far and says 'every stone in weight loss is like losing two stone in pressure off her hips and knees'. Deirdre and her family are delighted with their success so far and look forward to their continued success with Slimming World.
