HOME furnishing giant IKEA has entered into a year-long strategic fundraising campaign partnership with the Simon Community.
To mark the announcement IKEA Dublin will donate an initial €5,000 worth of home furnishings to be dispensed among the housing services in the Simon Communities in Ireland.
Throughout the year IKEA will work closely with the Simon Communities providing expert advice and knowledge to benefit the work of the charity. This will enable Simon to furnish accommodation and housing units throughout their communities.
IKEA co-workers are already planning a number of fundraising initiatives including fun-runs, checkout collections, coffee mornings and cake sales to raise much needed funds.
Customers will also be encouraged to get involved with numerous in store events taking place over the next year to support the vital service that the Simon Communities provide.
IKEA Store manager Jose Ramon De Blas said: 'We are delighted to be working with The Simon Communities as our charity partner for the coming year.
'Our co-workers have all sorts of fundraising activities planned for the year ahead to help raise much needed funds. We look forward to providing products along with our design expertise to help furnish the accommodation facilities and hopefully help to bring some added comfort to the lives of the residents.'
Niamh Randall, National Spokesperson, Simon Communities in Ireland, said: 'We are beyond the point of being able to do more with less and that is why this year long fundraising campaign with IKEA is so important to us. We look forward to working with IKEA staff in the activities that they have planned for the year ahead.'
