BALBRIGGAN Cancer Support Group got the most out of their 'Movember' activities and not only raised some badly needed cash but also donated the hair from the end of Movember 'shave-off' to a charity making wigs for children with cancer.

The finale of the Balbriggan Cancer Support Group Movember fundraiser took place last week in the Bracken Court Hotel.

A number of locals grew their 'Mos' during the month of November to raise money for Balbriggan Cancer Support Group and four of those will volunteers had their expertly grown facial hair removed in a grand 'shave-off' last week.

Dominic Finn, Stephen Quinlan, Joe McArdle and Josh Caffrey all volunteered to have their facial follicles shaved off by the expert hand of Marieann Campbell from John's Barber Shop in Balbriggan and two of the boys had more than their facial hair removed.

Stephen Quinlan did a bit of research that resulted in a little bit of a twist in the story because not only did the volunteers donate cash to the cause, they also donated their hair.

Stephen found a charity in the UK called Little Princess Trust who provide free, real-hair wigs to boys and girls in the UK and Ireland that have lost their hair through treatment for cancer.

Stephen and Josh's hair will be sent to the chairty and will end up in a wig for just such a child, maximising the power of Movember for not one but two cancer charities.

Well done to all involved and here's to next year's Movember.
