UP to 30 men in Garristown have decided to grow beards to raise funds for St John's Ward at Crumlin Children's Hospital.
Inspired by Brea, they have named it Beard for Brea and will have a big shave off on Sunday, December 1st at Gormley's Bar at 5.30pm.
'With it being Movember, my husband Thomas decided instead of growing a moustache, he decided he wanted to raise funds growing beard instead for St John's Ward,' said Margaret White, a friend of Elaine Mullarkey's.
'It then snowballed from there and we have nearly 30 men growing beards and getting sponsorship which is brilliant,' she said.
Each beard grower has received a sponsorship card and the money will go directly to St John's Ward, where Brea is receiving her treatment for leukaemia.
'It's fantastic so many of the men are doing this."
"I'm sure they are all looking forward to the big shave off at this stage,' she added.
