Malahide Has It all
The Malahide Has it Festival runs this weekend with lots of activities for all the family. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a inflatable village on the Green from 12 to 6pm, as well as a free magic show at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.
There will also be free face painting and balloon twisting. There will be a Giant Connect 4 and Jenga at Mischief at New Street, as well as fun with Malahide Basketball Club. There will also be a chess challenge on New Street, a local art exhibition outside the tennis club and a flower show at St Andrew' parish Hall.
There will also be a number of delicious foodstalls on the Green. A fun fair will be in situ for the entire weekend. On Sunday there will be a tug o war at 3pm, which is always one of the highlights of the festival. Further details at malahidehasit.com
2 The Skerries Water Festival takes place this weekend with lots of exciting events which will give visitors the chance to participate in free of charge taster sessions of kayaking, stand up paddle, rowing and kite surfing to name but a few. Taking place on the South Strand beach in Skerries the festival will also be host to a market, fun fair, street performers, sand castle building competition, free tasters from local food providers, arts and crafts and much more. With the annual Skerries Regatta also taking place and Skerries Sea Tours offering trips around the beautiful in shore Islands where you can see seals, guillemots and kitty wakes close up the Skerries Water Festival has it all for families, watersports enthuasiasts and tourists alike.
3 A fundraiser for the Molly McNally Miracle Trust will take place on Tuesday evening at 7pm in Moriarty's SuperValu in Balbriggan will put on a food and wine fair at the Bracken Court Hotel. 4 The monthly Comedy Club is taking place in the Seamus Ennis Centre on Friday at 8.30pm. The event has proved to be successful in attracting some of the best names in Irish comedy. Now in its sixth month, the club continues to attract serious talent through its doors. This month's LOL in Naul coincides with the very popular 'Vodafone Comedy Festival' in the Iveagh Gardens and regular MC Gearoid Farrelly, pictured far right, will take up the helm again this month in between appearances at The Iveagh Gardens. This month Gearoid is joined by one of comedy's most famous faces, Pat McDonnell. Pat is known to many from 'Naked Camera' and 'The Savage Eye' but will be remembered by most from his role as Eoin Mc Love from iconic TV show, Father Ted. 5 A songwriting workshop starts in Balbriggan Library next Monday and is aimed at 12 to 16 year olds and runs from 2pm to 4pm each day until Thursday.
The week-long course will take you through the basics of writing your own hit songs - even make your own demo CD!

6 The Hamlet Ladies 5km Walk in aid of the Balbriggan Cancer Support Group takes place on Sunday. Sponsorship cards are available from the Hamlet Bar.
7 The Derek Earley 5-a-side tournament is taking place in Skerries this week, starting with the group matches on Wednesday and Thursday at 6.30pm. The knockout matches take place on Saturday, starting at 12.30[pm.
All money raised by Derek Earley Ltd will be used to improve funding for and awareness of cardiac ailments in the young so that others at risk live long and healthy lives.
We aim to provide defibrillators to local sports groups, fund cardiac research efforts, and support organisations (such as CRY) which fund heart-screening services and help families affected by the sudden loss of a loved one. Further details at derekearley.com
8 Portrane Athletic FC is holding a men's 5-a-side tournament on Sunday from 110am at its grounds on the Portrane Road. There will also be a kids summer soccer camp.

9 A play written by a Portmarnock woman is to be performed at the Millbank Theatre in Rush this week. This latest comedy by Portmarnock woman Gráinne Jordan, received rave reviews when it played to packed houses in The Sean O'Casey Theatre, East Wall and the P.S.L.C Portmarnock earlier this year.
The Play deals with the conflict which arises when a woman's plan for a stress free retirement, gets hijacked by her family - with hilarious consequences! 10 St. Maur's Gaelic for Mothers & Others are having a fundraiser on Saturday at 9p.m. in St. Maur's GAA club. Entertainment will be provided by Buck Mulligan. €5 at the door. All proceeds will be used to buy kit and equipment for the team which has gone from strength to strength since starting earlier this year and are now preparing for their first Leinster Blitz at the end of August. New members always welcome - just drop along to a training session on Saturdays at 12pm in St. Maur's GAA.
