LOCALS joined local girl Ali Martin, to cheer on the Colombians at the Strand Bar, Rush last Friday as her home country took on the mighty Brazil in the World Cup quarter final.

Ali Martin, born in Colombia, was adopted by the Martin family when she was just one.

Ali's father, Eddie Martin said: 'It was a great night, my daughter works there and she wore a Colombian jersey given to her by another Columbian in the community, Jennifer Coffey'.

'The pub was decked out in the Columbian colours for all their matches and most of the crowd on the night were cheering for the Columbians', he added.

Unfortunately the night ended in a disappointment as they lost 2-1 to the World Cup hosts.

There was a great atmosphere on the night as the pub also hosted a surprise 70th birthday party for President of Rush Athletic Football Club, Johnny Callahan.
