Film festival will move outside for summer this year
Submissions are now open for the Fingal Film Festival which is set to see a major revamp this year, moving to the summer with a packed weekend of film, comedy and live music.
Taking place on August 11 and 12, this year the revamped Fingal Film Festival will form part of a much wider summer festival including comedy and music and will be hosted in an open air venue with the spectacular backdrop of Swords Castle.
There will be outdoor film screenings, live music, stand-up comedy and late night DJs in the summer festival schedule.
Festival founder, Liz Kenny said: 'As the preparations get underway for the 2017 Fingal Film Festival, the team have decided to revamp its annual format to raise a greater awareness of independent films, by attracting other festival goers that are usually drawn to music or comedy events. Although the festival has seen a significant audience growth over the last few years, we believe it is our responsibility as festival organisers to ensure we reinvent ourselves, by attracting larger audiences with a bigger venue this year.'
'We believe the 'film festival' themed event on its own alienates an audience, as they feel it's for experienced filmmakers and filmgoers alike, said festival creative director Dave Byrne. He added: 'Everybody loves film and our aim is to expose audiences to the Independent film concept, whilst offering a fun packed weekend.'
