WEXFORD VIXENS opened the season with a draw to Barnhall in Park Lane on Sunday. It was an impressive display put on by the girls which shows great prospects for the up coming season.

A minute's silence was held as a mark of respect for the passing of Irish International player Seamus Kelly. The Vixens went ahead before the break when they got a penalty on the five. They set up a ruck which Jenni picked and went and was tackled by Barnhall but Vera was quick to pounce, diving in for the try.

The Vixens saw themselves with most of the posession in the first half but were unfortunate not to add to their 5-0 lead.

The Vixens where unlucky to concede a try in the second half when Barnhall won a penalty. They set up a maul putting the Vixens under pressure close to their line. The maul collapsed and Barnhall picked the ball quickly and scored just left of the post.

The Vixens took on Barnhall, a team that have just come down from AIL, so they knew it would be a tough contest but the Vixens put it to them and came away with a well deserved 5-5 draw. Training every Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm. Come along and give it a 'try'.
