Rovers cup dream ended by Campile
PREMIER DIVISION leaders Shamrock Rovers kissed goodbye to their Wexford Cup dreams after being ousted by Campile United.
The top flight duo locked horns at Fr. Murphy Park and United made a mockery of their differing league positions as they sprung a surprise 1-0 win over their hosts.
That was the only eyebrow-raising result of the weekend though, with all other ties panning out as you would expect. New Ross Celtic made surprisingly hard work of their clash with Division 3 outfit Raheen United but in the end they negotiated their way to a 2-1 success.
Bunclody had Adrian Wanchack to thank for their progression. He landed the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win over Wexford Celtic. Division 1 side Moyne Rangers were taken all the way to a penalty shoot-out by Division 2's Stoney Rovers. Rovers actually took the lead in Enniscorthy but Mark Kirwan's goal took it to extra -time. And the hosts kept their nerves to advance at the expense of Rovers. Also aiming to have their name carved onto the cup in May are St. Leonards and Bridge Rovers, who both emerged victorious in their fourth round ties.
