Graham Sullivan - St Kevins win 3-1 on penalties NORTH END failed to take advantage of a home quarter-final as the Wexford town side crashed out of the Leinster Junior Cup with a penalty shoot-out loss to Dublin team St. Kevin's Boys on Sunday afternoon last.
Substitute Adam Beary fired home from close range to put North End ahead in the 70th minute, but as time ticked away Graham Sullivan popped up to level with a loopy effort and the visitors never looked back.
Things were a little less spectacular in the opening exchanges as the sides sparred and felt each other out. The Wexford town club started brighter and almost went ahead when Lee Walker's long ball found its way to Paul Murphy, however the former Waterford striker fired wide of the right post.
Jason Murphy saw his 25-yard free-kick well held by Austin Hannon in the 13th minute, and North End continued to create half-chances as Craig Mcguire volleyed over midway through the half.
Another volley from range, at the other end of the field, from Alan Murphy saw St. Kevin's best chance of the period come and go when Walker held at the second attempt, leaving the secondhalf promising a lot more.
Alan Connors' hesitation allowed North End to clear early in the second-half when a first-time left-footed shot might have paid dividends, while the hosts had a great chance of their own on the hour mark when Paul Murphy slipped in his older brother Jason, only for Hannon to save at his feet.
The game was really starting to open up with half chances at both ends, but it was North End that created the breakthrough when Kyle Dempsey hared away down the right and squared to Beary, who slammed to the net from close range.

Moments after Walker saved from the elusive Alan Talbot, Sullivan looped in the equaliser and with it the game meandered towards extra-time.
Substitutes Beary and Alan Murphy had halfchances to win it for North End in the secondhalf of extra-time but they came and went and, despite Paul Murphy's successful penalty first up, the next three Wexford men missed to send St. Kevin's into the semi-final.
