O'Neill twins aim for higher goals
WEXFORD ALBION Under-15 players Luke O'Neill and Sam O'Neill have been selected on the F.A.I. Regional Emerging Talent Programme. The twins are two of Wexford's finest under-age talents and will now train and compete with some of the most top young Irish players in their region.
The F.A.I. Emerging Talent Programme helps to identify and develop talented young players around the country with a view to assisting them in progressing onto the international stage in due course.
This year has been a successful one for Luke and Sam as together with team-mate Adam Dempsey they were vital members of the Wexford Under-14 team which won the Kennedy Cup Bowl in Limerick in June, and also captured the Under-14 league with Wexford Albion in May.
Wexford Albion Under-15 coaches David Hayes and Declan Butler will be in constant touch with the F.A.I. Emerging Talent team to monitor their progress.
'All at Wexford Albion are thrilled for Luke and Sam. We are delighted that their talents are being recognised at national level. The two boys are a credit to their parents, Jimmy and Ann, and are both very well-liked by all at our club,' said Ricardo Forte, Wexford Albion Secretary.
'I'm delighted for Luke and Sam it's a magnificent opportunity for them,' David Hayes added. 'They certainly possess the talent and correct attitude to progress onto the international team and hopefully develop into future stars of the game. It's also fantastic for all involved with Wexford Albion.
'For over 40 years this club has been producing some of the best players in the county.'
'It's a wonderful opportunity for the twins,' Declan Butler said. 'They always possessed the talent to move onto greater things. All of us involved in the Under-15 Wexford Albion squad are thrilled for them.'
