Dempsey back at base

WEXFORD'S YOUNG soccer players are meeting with mixed fortunes.
Local North End starlet, Robin Dempsey, who signed for Aston Villa in such a blaze of glory earlier this season, has returned home.
Dempsey, one of the brightest under-age prospects in the county, had been making steady progress with the Birmingham club and with Republic of Ireland at under-age level.
It's not yet known if Dempsey will decide to resurrect his career across channel.
Meanwhile, the future of Danny Furlong also hangs very much in the balance.
Leading goalscorer with Wexford Youths, Furlong signed for Cork City at the start of the Irish season, but only made a handful of starts before being loaned out to Waterford United.
With Waterford United having failed in the promotion race once again in their efforts to bring Premier Division football back to Suirside, and with their season complete, Furlong will return to Cork.
However, there are strong rumours that he may be on his way out of the club, and seeking out a new home for the 2014 league campaign.
On a much brighter note, New Ross native Greg Bolger is continuing his upward curve and has helped St. Patrick's Athletic to the Premier League title.
