Campile secure a spot in Cup decider

CAMPILE UNITED ensured a local derby in the Wexford Cup final against New Ross Celtic on Sunday last.

The Premier Division outfit faced Bunclody who have been relegated to Division 1 ahead of next season, but they were hoping to go down all guns blazing and with a Wexford Cup as consolation. However, the Church Road men were edged out 2-1.

Barry Hearn and Nicky Sinnott landed the all-important strikes to see their side safely through to the showpiece final.

Bookmakers would be hard pushed to choose a favourite between New Ross Celtic and United as just three points separate the duo in the league table. Campile are the ones who can brag the superior points tally and when the sides met back on April 22, it was the Tom O'neill Park men who shaded the tie and picked up three points courtesy of a 32 win.

A repeat would do nicely for United when the sides do battle again with the Wexford Cup at stake.
