Former Duffry stalwart Casey switches codes

INTERMITTENT downpours at Enniscorthy golf course did not deter participants at the Wexford camogie annual classic from posting some impressive scores.

Anthony Ryan's team, led by John Casey, captured the top prize of a weekend at a Talbot Group Hotel with an excellent score of 104.

The former Duffry Rovers and Wexford footballer, holder of eight county Senior championship medals, led the way by a wide margin from the next placed team.

A score of 96 gave second spot to Wallace's, ahead of Austin Brownrigg's team's score of 95 (back nine) for third.

Pettitt's SuperValu were thanked for the goody-bags, as were Wheelock's Fruit and Paganini for the desserts, and all those who sponsored prizes.

Prizes were presented by club Captain, Ciarán Tobin, who thanked all 29 teams for their participation and wished Wexford camogie every success for 2014.

Results: 1, Gerry O'Connor (18), Eddie Doyle (17), Eamonn Whitty (12), John Casey (10); 2, Aidan Wallace (27), Tony Wallace (20), James Wallace (21), Liam Wallace (18); 3, Austin Brownrigg (14), John Byrne (13), Shane Timmins (12), Aisling Costello (20); 4, Bunclody Camogie Club; 5, St. Martin's G.A.A. club; 6, Harry Doran's team; longest drive (gents), Philip Murphy; longest drive (ladies), Marie Dunphy; nearest pin, James Foley.
