Nine losses from nine outings

WEXFORD'S intermediate camogie side ended a miserable season with their ninth defeat in nine league and championship games, this time against Cork, in Cushinstown on Sunday last.

The Slaneysiders' eight-point loss against the Leesiders was five better then the 13-point average that they have lost those nine games by.

They played pretty well in the first-half with one of the bright spots of the campaign, youngster Molly McGuckin, grabbing a trio of points. Marie Morrissey also claimed a double as Wexford went in at the break one point behind (2-3 to 0-8) courtesy of a major double by Cork's Amanda O'Regan.

Points by Niamh Walsh and Morrissey kept the home side within three nine minutes into the second-half (2-6 to 0-10), but after Caroline Sugrue got the Rebelettes' third goal in the 44th minute there was only going to be one winner.

The game could be the last of Niamh O'Connor's inter-county career, as the long-time servant of Wexford camogie is likely to bow out this winter after over a decade with her county.
