Changes made for horseshoe season

THE WEXFORD County Board held a committee meeting on Wednesday night last in Ferns. There were a number of items on the agenda to be discussed, some of which had failed to be submitted at the A.G.M., so they could not be discussed there.
Proposals passed were: to lower the league entrance fee from €110 per team to €100, or two teams for €150; any player needing a transfer from one club to another will have to pay a transfer fee of €25 to the County Board; the league will be held on Wednesday nights instead of Thursday this year. If the weather is bad it will be played on the following Tuesday; any team promoted to Division 1 from Division 2 will receive three aces from Doran's Bridge 'A' and the Woodsmen; any second division team with first division players will have to give three aces to a second division team without first division players; the rule from last year will stand - Doran's Bridge/Woodsmen will give all second division teams seven aces, and any other other first division team will give them three; for voting purposes, two members per club can vote.
If one of those two cannot attend they may be replaced by another member of the club for that night.
One proposal which didn't go through was to have the first and second divisions selfcontained.
That would mean first division teams would just play first division teams and second division teams would just play second division teams in the league. This will be discussed at the next meeting on March 6, as there wasn't a representative from each club in attendance.
The H.P.A.I. A.G.M. will be held in Carlow on Saturday, February 26, at 2 p.m. It is essential that all clubs from Wexford be represented to ensure that they may have a say in the proposals that have been sent up to the H.P.A.I. from Wexford.
Best wishes to Con Carroll from The Gap Horseshoe Club who was in hospital recently, wishing him a speedy recovery.
We'd like to offer our deepest sympathies to Colin Raymond and his family on the death of Colin's son, Neil, who died suddenly in Abu Dhabi before Christmas.
His funeral will take place after 11 a.m. Mass on Friday in Urris, Clonmany, Co. Donegal.
Our condolences also to the family of Paddy Murray from Páirc Mhuire, Ferns. Paddy was a former member of the Páirc Mhuire and Doran's Bridge Horseshoe Clubs. R.I.P.
