Events will take a dramatic turn in St Mogue's Hall, Inch, this week as Coolgreany Amateur Drama Society presents its annual One Act Comedy and Drama Festival from Wednesday, October 26, to Friday, October 28.

This year's festival will showcase seven productions, three from Coolgreany and four from visiting theatre groups.

Coolgreany's artistic director, Sally Stevens, said that their festival is not just about showcasing quality drama, but also about giving everyone a good night out at a very reasonable price.

'For only €10, you are guaranteed a great evening of entertaining theatre,' she said. 'A season ticket for the whole three nights costs only €25.'

On Wednesday, October 26, New Ross Drama Group presents 'Last Tango in Little Grimley' by David Tristram; Square One from Bray presents 'Blue Love' by David Butler; and Coolgreany presents 'Trifles' by Susan Glaspell.

On Thursday, October 27, Coolgreany presents 'Melody' by Deirdre Kinahan; and 'The Quiet Land' by Malachy McKenna, which is Coolgreany's entry in this year's All-Ireland drama circuit.

On Friday, October 28, 'Subtraction', is presented by Lucan Drama Group; while the New Ross Drama Workshop presents 'Interior Designs' by Jimmie Chinn.

Adjudicator Martin Maguire will announce his decision on the final night. Season ticket holders at the festival will get the chance to vote for the audience's choice as best production.
