Sad to lose retired group

Dear Sir, It was with disappointment that Active Retirement Ireland learned – in the January 10th edition of the Enniscorthy Guardian – of Enniscorthy Active Retirement Association's decision to disaffiliate from the national network of older people's groups.
We are saddened to lose such a vibrant and dynamic group of people. Enniscorthy Active Retirement's decision that their affiliation fees, which amount to €6 per person for the entire year, were not representative of value for money is disheartening. ARI, however, remains committed to providing a wide range of services and opportunities to all our other Wexford-based groups.
These include not only holidays and breaks, but also computer courses, internet and website training, competitions, workshops, committee supports, newsletters, public liability insurance and a dedicated voice for older people's rights and entitlements.
We are also committed to providing all of these services and opportunities for the yearly affiliation fee that is decided by ARI'S 23,000 members.
We wish Enniscorthy Active Retirement the very best of luck in all their future endeavours and we sincerely hope that this is not the last association we have with such an active group. Yours etc, Tom O'mahony President, Active Retirement Ireland
