Whist players donate to school

THE WHIST drive in Ballycanew has always been a popular pastime for local card players, and the regular players were delighted recently to hand over a cheque for a very impressive €2,820 to Ballycanew National School, after 30 weeks of fundraising.

They thanked all the Whist players for their support, and all those who donated prizes for the Whist.

The school Principal Con Brosnan and the Board of Management were delighted with the contributions they received to date from the community at large, but especially from the members of the Whist Drive who made an extra special effort to support the school's fundraising appeal.
