He's watched it from the fringes and now a 24-year-old Co. Wexford man will experience the excitement of the Rose of Tralee Festival first hand.

Having travelled to the Festival on a number of occasions, Ronnie White will be in the centre of the action later this month following his selection as one of 28 escorts to accompany this year's Roses.

Ronnie from Curraduff, Ferns works as a bank teller and student officer at AIB in New Ross. He is sponsored by Ballybeg House in Wicklow.

'I had been to the Rose of Tralee with my friends and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I decided to apply to become an escort and I'm delighted to have been picked. I am really looking forward to the Festival. It promises to be an experience of a lifetime,' he enthused.
