ALMOST TWO years after the event came to a conclusion, the DVD of Enniscorthy 1500 has been sprung on the market, just in time for Christmas.

Copies of the production 'A look back at Enniscorthy Celebrating 1500 Years' is available at €10 a copy from the urban council offices in Market Square.

Town clerk Padraig O'Gorman hopes that the disc will prove helpful in promoting the town to people from the area now residing abroad who may be considering a return during 2013, the year of The Gathering. Footage from 2010 included on the DVD includes fireworks, a tribute to writer Colm Tóibín, the Street Rhythms festival and the ecumenical carol service at St. Aidan's cathedral as well as street parades.

The film was shot by Market Square photographer Ger Carty who ran into severe technical problems when preparing the footage for release. The collapse of two computer hard drives contributed to the lengthy delay. It is hoped that a formal launch of ' A look back at Enniscorthy Celebrating 1500 Years' will be staged in the new year.
