OYLEGATE National School's recent Bake Sale raised over €1,100 which will go towards buying a field beside the school.

A concerned band of parents recently formed a fundraising committee to raise over €55,000 to buy the field which will provide a safer drop off amentity for their children.

The main road from Enniscorthy to Wexford runs through the village however its primary school has no parking or drop off area nor a public path from the the school to the village.

The committee planned the recent bake sale fundraiser during the opening of the St David's parish 'Tree of Life' memorial garden for unborn and still born babies. Over 1000 visitors attended the ceremony which coincided with the Church's annual blessing of the graves.

The bake sale was well supported by local bakers and the Irish Countrywomens Association supplying goodies to sell. The committee will be holding various fundraisers to achieve its target.
