New scheme to fund local community organisation until 2020

Sara Gahan

A draft of the Community Funding Scheme 2017-2020 has been put forward to the members of Enniscorthy Municipal District which will support the invaluable work of local community and voluntary groups, organisations and resident committees.

'The Community Funding scheme aims to promote, enhance and develop community development and social inclusion activity throughout the County,' said Chief Officer Ger Mackey.

The funding provision for the first year will be a small scale financial grant of €100,000 with the budget being reviewed on an annual basis. The maximum grant payable through the scheme is €25,000.

Projects funded under this measure will demonstrate how they contribute positively to community infrastructure in their community.

Guidelines for the funding scheme are: applications are welcome from community groups, organisations and resident committees; applicants must be registered with Wexford Public Participation Network; voluntary labour is permitted as part of the group's contribution to the project.
