AUTHOR Dermot Meleady was on hand at The Book Centre in Wexford last week for the launch of his new biography - 'John Redmond The Natioanal Leader', a Wexford man who was once on the cusp of becoming a prime minister.

Kilrane-born Redmond was one of the most influential, controversial and tragic figures of the 20th Century.

In his book, Dermot has used a huge array of sources from over a decade's research to analyse the years of Redmond's leadership of the Irish National Party until his death in 1918.

The book includes previously unseen photographs from the Redmond family archive and newly-discovered information which reveals the many opportunities for success which narrowly eluded Redmond's political career.
