A 5km charity Fun Run takes place in Gorey on Sunday, July 27, at 11am to raise funds for Haiti.
Local man Michael Redmond, pictured, is part of a group of 13 travelling from Ireland with the Methodist Missionary Society, to Haiti in December to help improve the living conditions of those still suffering the effects of the earthquakes there five years ago.
All proceeds from the run will go to the work of this group during their efforts in Haiti.
Registration will take place on the morning of the race from 10 a.m. in Redmond's Home and Garden Centre on the Arklow Road, Gorey.
The start of the 5 km run will be just outside the registration point, with the course taking entrants up to Kilmurry cross roads, turning right for Gorey, down Clonattin, turning right at the Bridge Bar corner, over by The Ashdown Park Hotel and back out the Arklow Road to finish at the car park outside David James Car Sales.
The entry fee is €10, and there will be prizes for the first three men and first three ladies home, with spot prizes through the field.
Each participant will get a finishing time and a placing, and full results will be published on both Facebook and www.sbrclub.com. Snacks will be served in Redmond's Home and Garden Centre after the race, and the organisers have sent their thanks to proprietor Seamie Redmond for the use of his premises.
