A 56-YEAR-OLD Enniscorthy man expressed his remorse last week for the assault on a former partner which brought him before the District Court.
John Carthy of 112 Moran Park admitted the assault on Anne Leacy from River View in Irish Street at his home after the row started between the couple following a funeral.
The incident happened in April and it left Ms. Leacy with extensive bruising to head, arm, upper body and legs. The injured party was not in court and available for crossexamination on a victim impact statement which Judge Gerard Haughton decided, therefore, he should not read.
Carthy apologised for his behaviour. He said it should never have happened and that he should have left the house. He was given 100 hours of community service as an alternative to four months in jail.
