'THAT'S IT! I'm locking up. I've had enough. I'm not doing it any more. Nobody should have to put up with this.'

Furious Joe Byrne, the owner of a charter fishing boat in Courtown, has said he'll pack in the charter boat business and concentrate on his fishing tackle shop instead, after thieves stole every single piece of equipment from his boat The Puffin last Wednesday night. The contents of two privately owned fishing vessels also tied alongside the harbour wall were also taken in the same night.

'Everything was taken, right down to the lead weights and hooks,' he blasted. 'Rods, reels, electrical equipment, fishing equipment, toolboxes, lifejackets, all gone. They did everything bar hoover it before they left.'

He added that a six-person liferaft was among items taken from the two other vessels, which were also cleaned out.
