MINISTER Brendan Howlin was in Enniscorthy recently to visit the County Wexford Education Centre beside the Vocational College at the Milehouse Road. His task was to perform the official launch of the centre's first education research journal, containing papers from a recent seminar for newly appointed primary school principals.

The special guest was welcomed by centre director Paula Carolan and the chairman Eamon Barrett. The Minister complimented all concerned on the way that the place has been used to help so many teachers to develop their expertise and careers.

Among the contributors to the journal is Matthew Meleady of Scoil Íosagáin in Coolgreany along with other recently installed school heads across the South East, in Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford. The seminar – or colloquium – was co-ordinated by Celia Walsh and it is set to become an annual event.

Teachers are invited to submit papers for the next such event, due to take place on Saturday, March 2 in the new year.
