A MAN who went to a pub to watch a rugby match, but ended up drinking more than he intended, then crashed into a wall as he was driving home, Gorey Court heard last week.
Before the court was Anthony O'Sullivan (28) of Highlands, Pallas, who had a reading of 75 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath after the crash at Kilanerin on April 29 last.
Solicitor Garrett Fitzpatrick said O'Sullivan was watching a rugby match in a pub earlier in the day, and ' had more than he intended to drink.'
He tried to get a lift home but couldn't. He said his client is of very good character, and his work as a seasonal agricultural contractor will come to an end with the driving ban. He added that the insurance policy paid for the damage to the wall, but as it was a third party policy, the defendant was at the loss of his car.
Judge Gerard Haughton fined him €300 and banned him from driving for three years, from March 1 next.
