A QUESTION MARK hangs over the future of the Castle night club after Friday's home town appearance by singersongwriter Wallis Bird was switched to a fresh venue at the last minute. Fans expecting to see the performer appear in the Castle were advised to take the short walk across Enniscorthy to Treacy's Hotel instead.
The singer from Galbally quickly made herself at home in Benedict's night club, just a few hundred metres from her old school, Coláiste Bríde. A recent recruit to the 'Women's Heart' troupe, she delivered a fine solo performance on home turf and she revealed afterwards that it may be her last appearance in public for a considerable time.
'It was a good gig, good craic,' said Wallis Bird. 'I am now taking a year off to write.' Based in London for the past six years, she moved to Berlin in recent days but expects to be home in Ireland once more for Christmas.
