ENNISCORTHY Town Council officials have pledged to continue their efforts to find a replacement for retired Nunnery Road lollipop man James Mahon.
Town clerk David Minogue reminded councillors last week that the vacancy has occurred while the council is subject to a staff recruitment embargo. In the mean time community wardens will try to provide cover, helping students at St Aidan's primary make their way to and from school safely.
'The lollipop person is needed,' he was assured by Cllr Jackser Owens, who noted that the regular service has been missing since the beginning of term.
