National Learning Network
NATIONAL LEARNING Network is part of the Rehab Group and is Ireland's largest specialist training provider for People with disabilities or those who may be temporarily out of work due to accident or illness.
National Learning Network has over 50 training centres across the county catering for approx 4,500 students each year.
The Wexford training centre, locally known as the 'Swan Centre' is located at the Faythe in Wexford and accommodates 48 students. We offer four different training programmes, three FAS – funded programmes and one HSE-funded. Our programmes carry FETAC level 3 – 5 certification and City and Guilds accreditation and are designed to lead directly to jobs or progression to further education.
Teaching students the skills they need to gain qualifications that are recognised by employers is obviously important but it only explains part of National Learning Network Wexford's work. All of our training programmes are person centred. This unique system of person centred training delivery enables students to reach their potential in a manner which takes account of personal, social and educational needs and students are facilities to work at a pace that is achievable for them. This is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of trainers, programme development officers, psychologists, rehabilitation officers and literacy support staff.
At National Learning Network, staff concentrate on the ability of the student not the disability, and believe that all members of our community are entitled to equal access to high quality learning and education programmes. Many of the students have experienced some degree of marginalisation, so enrolling with NLN is very often a step forward, a new beginning, a whole new concept" Manager of the centre Mary Nolan is pleased with the progress of NLN as a Specialised Training Provider within the community. 'The positive achievements of our students to date are very rewarding' she says 'and the majority have achieved employment or progressed to further education, and have benefited greatly from our additional supports. Some comments from outside agencies 'An excellent centre, very well organised' 'A high standard of work.'
'Students clearly gain great knowledge and experience from the courses.'
