PROLIFIC LOCAL historian Christopher Power from Ferns is back in print with an intriguing sidelight on the events of 1798 in Enniscorthy.

The author was given access to the correspondence of Major Joseph Hardy, a native of Waterford, who was the Crown's military commander in County Wicklow during the eventful summer of '98.

The Hardy letters include the major's account of the Battle of Vinegar Hill which he expected at the time to be the last major military engagement of the rebellion. Contact Christopher Power at (086) 6089198.
