'OUR CUSTOMERS are really good,' said grateful Leanne Parle at Caulfield's SuperValu in Enniscorthy last week. She was speaking about the overwhelmingly generous response to the annual 2FM/SuperValu Christmas toy appeal, which defied the recession.
Two big loads of toys were waiting for collection when Vincent de Paul representatives Rory McCauley and Dessie Sheehan came to call at the shop in Mill Park Road. And the effort was supplemented by donations from the work-force at the supermarket.
The Vincent de Paul has rented out a unit in the nearby Abbey Square to prepare the toys for distribution for families struggling to cope with the festive financial pressures.
