A YOUTH club with a difference has been established in Screen where members of the Chillax YC do not meet for discos or unihoc.

Instead, they gather around computers to concentrate on their studies, exploring the internet to help them tackle their homework.

Club founder member Katie Quaid explained the concept of a study club recently at a conference in Dublin recently at O2 headquarters. The gathering was run as part of the ' Think Big' programme designed by O2 and Headstrong, the national centre for youth mental health.

Katie explained how the initiative was taken to provide an alternative to costly grinds by downloading help for free from the internet from educational web-sites.

Think Big has granted initial funding of €300 to help get the project off the ground, along with a mobile phone and also offers support training with advice.
