The cycling boom continues to grow, with the organisers of the St. Luke's charity sportive welcoming 350 riders to Ferns.

The peloton, with its record number of participants, tackled a tough climb up Mount Leinster before returning to base.

It is expected that their efforts will generate at least €10,000 for the St. Luke's cancer hospital.

The fourth annual running of the sportive went off well thanks to kind weather and the efforts of at least 60 volunteers.

The event was promoted by the Slaney cycling club and the slog on the road was followed by a barbecue.

The entertainment was laid on at The Courtyard back in Ferns where the food was accompanied by live music.
